Play Command & Conquer Red Alert 2 / Yuri's Revenge On LAN On Windows 10

In the good old days, Command & Conquer Red Alert 2 is one superb game you can enjoy with your friends on LAN.

Although you can make Command & Conquer Red Alert 2 on Windows 10 by following the Install And Run Command & Conquer Red Alert 2 On Windows 10 tutorial; making its multiplayer function work on LAN on Windows 10 is another story.

Unlike the oldest Starcraft which has a multiplayer module that still works on Windows 10, the multiplayer option of Command & Conquer Red Alert 2 uses the IPX protocol which is no longer supported in Windows 10. Fortunately one genius homo sapien created the amazing IPX Wrapper.

IPX Wrapper is a collection of DLL and whatnot that allows you to use the multiplayer option of old games such as Atomic Bomberman, Carmageddon, Carmageddon II, Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2, Darkstone: Evil Reigns, Delta Force 2, Diablo, FIFA: Road to World Cup 98, Heroes of Might and Magic III, Machines: Wired for War, Need For Speed III - Hot Pursuit, Outlive, Rising Lands, Rival Realms, Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, Star Wars Episode I: Racer, Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II, Street Wars: Constructor Underworld/Mob Rule, Theme Hospital, Total Annihilation, Twisted Metal 2, Virtua Cop, Warcraft II, War Wind, and War Wind II: Human Onslaught.

This tutoriale should allow you to install and make the multiplayer module of Command & Conquer Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge work on Windows 10:

Files Needed

The Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 and Command & Conquer: Yuri's Revenge files that used to be available for download from TNTTS has been reported by some possible greedy individual or corporation. Thus, we got hit by some DMCA shit. Nevertheless, it is easy to obtain a copy of an installer if you use Google.

Installation Instructions

1. 
   Install the game on C:\Westwood\RA2\ folders.
   
   
   
2. 
   Run "ipxconfig.exe" as administrator. Choose your PC's NIC from the Primary interface drop down. Higlight your PC's NIC as well on the Network adpaters list. Click on Apply and then OK.
   
   
   
3. 
   Copy all the DLL files from "02. IPX Wrapper" to C:\Westwood\RA2\.
   
   
   
4. 
   Run directplay-win32.reg and then directplay-win64.reg.
   
   
   

LAN Game Fix

This should resolve the "same serial number" error.

1. 
   Press and hold the Windows Key and press the R button on your keyboard. This should bring up the Windows 10 Run box.
   
   
   
2. 
   Type regedit on the Run box and click on the OK button or press ENTER.
   
   
   
3. 
   Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
   
   
   
4. 
   Go to SOFTWARE.
   You may encounter some variations at this point. On some computers you might find the Westwood registry folder when you reach this part.
   
   
   
5. 
   Go to WOW6432Node.
   
   
   
6. 
   Go to Westwood.
   
   
   
7. 
   From here you may either go to Red Alert 2 and / or Yuri's Revenge.
   
   
   
8. 
   You should see an item that is labeled "Serial". From here you may just replace the values with 1111111 for your first PC and then 2222222 for your second PC and so on. This should allow you to play LAN for both RA2 and YR without having to see the "same serial number" error.
   If you do not see the Registry the values that you are looking for, just create one. It should look similar to the screen shot below:
